Check the terminal ends, and inside the towers. Some additional things to check include the wire going from the center of the distributor cap to the center of the coil. The remaining terminal should be connected to the terminal on the side of the distributor. If your tractor is a 12 volt negative ground system the (+) positive coil terminal should be connected to the wire going to the ignition switch. If your tractor is a 6 volt positive ground system the (-) negative coil terminal should be connected to the wire going to the ignition switch. Yes, the marks on the coil terminals matter. If your starter will not turn over either then it is possible you have a bad ignition switch.
